Gothic grunge Hobo bag by indie designer Jill

I recently was contacted by Jill, a really awesome purse designer and friend of mine. She custom made a bag for me as a gift with pleather (Faux leather) handles since she knows I don't wear leather. It was one of the sweetest gestures and gifts I have ever received and I wanted to share her pieces with readers of my blog. Jill is not only brilliant but she captures exactly what the buyer wants. She will custom make it according to each person's preferences and every piece she makes is unique and cool. She knows my favorite eras are the 60's, 70's and 90's and I told her I was craving something cool and old school...something that was reminiscent of my high school days. I wanted something with a bit of tie dye, lots of grunge and character. I remember the days when I use to put up christmas lights year round in my purple painted bed room (which I still do) laden with rock posters, images of led zeppelin, the beatles and sonic youth. Incense floating through the air, listening to my favorite pixies, alice in chains, nirvana or pearl jam record, smoking my cigarettes, lounging with friends, brewing coffee and just chilling. She got to work  and work she did creating one of the coolest custom bags I have ever been given.

When I received the bag in the mail I could hardly believe it. It was better than I expected. It was like she took all my words, colors and experiences and put them into one little bag. My favorite aspects of the piece are the bold rich purple color, the spiral on the bottom and the hidden compartments made of tie dye material inside. The bag is deep so you can put any kind of stash, money or knick knacks inside. I also loove loove loove the modern day twist she placed on the purse by adding a cell phone pocket on the front. My favorite thing are the sunflower buttons. She wanted my purse straps to be adjustable and also have a leather like feel so she grunged the faux leather up with distressed stitching. It added so much character and it really looks like I found a vintage 90s hobo purse in my attic.

Prices range from 65 and up depending on the size of the bag. To place an order with Jill, email jillybeans771@aol.com or go to her etsy page found here: Jillybeans
