Santa Cruz
I visited Santa Cruz with my love last week. We went to one of our favorite places, Saturn Cafe. Love that place. You can get anything veganized there. So so good! Best veggie diner I have ever been to. Ever! I want to go to the one in Berkley. I haven't yet been. We hung out on the beach and played games on the Boardwalk before grabbing a late dinner on the wharf later on. Did some shopping at a local thrift where I got a vintage denim jacket for 7 bucks and picked up some music at Streetlight. We had a second late dinner of vegan mushroom and Japanese style noodles and wine while we watched some of my favorite Rob Zombie music videos later. Happy Summer!!

"Cause we're born free"
I got this exquisite strapless top from Black Crow Industries. Check them out on etsy. They have some really amazing pieces. I think this will be a really nice top to wear throughout the summer while I rock out to folk metal with friends.

Gothic/Grunge lace Nirvana dress
This dress is so lovely. I loved the lace sleeves and construction of the dress. I got it on etsy from Veras Eye Candy. Veronica has some amazing dresses, bodysuits and many other cool items. Her dresses are very flattering and one of the better diy stores I have come across. I will definitely be ordering more. I love the aesthetics of the band tees juxtaposed with the lace. My favorite pieces are the lace sleeve dresses, body suits and I have my eye on a rad Pantera fringe dress she made. If you want something different and unique check out her store.

New macabre buttons
I saw a post on fashion grunge style's facebook a while ago about these really cool buttons done by artist David Jordan on etsy. I'm addicted to etsy and always find some of the most amazing artists on there. I love the Wednesday Addams key chain that doubles as a can opener and there are tons of other cool buttons. My favorites by far are the Addams Family ones, Sally (nightmare before christmas) and Hedwig and the Angry Inch buttons. He gave me a few extra buttons which I thought was very nice. I can't wait to adorn my jackets and bags with them. Check his etsy store out if you get a chance: David Jordan

Gothic grunge Hobo bag by indie designer Jill
I recently was contacted by Jill, a really awesome purse designer and friend of mine. She custom made a bag for me as a gift with pleather (Faux leather) handles since she knows I don't wear leather. It was one of the sweetest gestures and gifts I have ever received and I wanted to share her pieces with readers of my blog. Jill is not only brilliant but she captures exactly what the buyer wants. She will custom make it according to each person's preferences and every piece she makes is unique and cool. She knows my favorite eras are the 60's, 70's and 90's and I told her I was craving something cool and old school...something that was reminiscent of my high school days. I wanted something with a bit of tie dye, lots of grunge and character. I remember the days when I use to put up christmas lights year round in my purple painted bed room (which I still do) laden with rock posters, images of led zeppelin, the beatles and sonic youth. Incense floating through the air, listening to my favorite pixies, alice in chains, nirvana or pearl jam record, smoking my cigarettes, lounging with friends, brewing coffee and just chilling. She got to work and work she did creating one of the coolest custom bags I have ever been given.
When I received the bag in the mail I could hardly believe it. It was better than I expected. It was like she took all my words, colors and experiences and put them into one little bag. My favorite aspects of the piece are the bold rich purple color, the spiral on the bottom and the hidden compartments made of tie dye material inside. The bag is deep so you can put any kind of stash, money or knick knacks inside. I also loove loove loove the modern day twist she placed on the purse by adding a cell phone pocket on the front. My favorite thing are the sunflower buttons. She wanted my purse straps to be adjustable and also have a leather like feel so she grunged the faux leather up with distressed stitching. It added so much character and it really looks like I found a vintage 90s hobo purse in my attic.
Prices range from 65 and up depending on the size of the bag. To place an order with Jill, email jillybeans771@aol.com or go to her etsy page found here: Jillybeans
